Subdivisions & Condos
A plan of subdivision or condominium is an application process by which multiple lots or blocks are created from an existing property. An approved plan of subdivision or condominium is required for the lots or blocks to be sold separately, and a registered plan will outline the details as to how those lots or blocks can be developed.
Approval Authority
The County of Peterborough has the authority to process and approve applications for plans of subdivision and condominium. Our Director of Planning has the ability to approve applications that are 'straight forward', while County Council makes decisions on applications that are 'disputed'.
Application Process
Before submitting an application, the applicant is required to meet with the Planning Department and local Township staff. The purpose of this meeting is to discuss the proposal, the application process, and the studies that are needed to support the development.
Upon application the Planning Department requires the correct number of copies of the application and proposed plan, copies of all studies, a peer review agreement, and the application fee.
Cost
Please see the fee schedule below for the current application fee for plans of subdivision or condominium. Additional fees may apply for other services provided by the Planning Department as part of the process. These costs are listed on the fee schedule.
You can expect other costs not listed in the fee schedule for supporting studies, public agency review, surveying, legal agreements, peer review and other supporting materials.
