Bursary Awards

Annually, the County of Peterborough recognizes eligible students residing in the County of Peterborough (excluding the City of Peterborough) by providing financial assistance of $250.

Bursaries are awarded to eligible students who meet the criteria (County residents, completed Grade 12 or OAC’s and continuing with post-secondary education) based on the weighted ranking as established by County Council being the relative financial need of the individual, the grade point average of the applicant and the amount of other bursaries received.

The Land of Shining Waters Bursary funds are derived from the interest accrued from investing the proceeds from the sale of the book “Peterborough Land of Shining Waters” which are available for purchase at the County of Peterborough offices at 470 Water Street, County Court House for a cost of $20.35 plus taxes.

The 4-H Agricultural Scholarship Bursary award is awarded to eligible students who have met the criteria and will be continuing with post secondary education in an agricultural-related field or in a field which can be used in the agricultural industry. A background in agriculture will be considered, including working on the family farm or on a volunteer basis.

In late June, County Council considers the recommendations of the Awards and Bursaries Committee with presentation of the bursary awards to the successful students at the first Regular County Council Meeting in August.

Eligible students can obtain bursary applications through their secondary school guidance departments, local libraries and local Township offices and on the County’s website. The deadline to submit your application to the County Clerk is June 15th.
