Public Works

The Public Works Department provides a safe, efficient and cost-effective transportation network throughout the County of Peterborough to meet the needs of our residents, businesses and visitors through responsible road maintenance and engineering.

With an annual budget of approximately $15 million, the department builds, operates, repairs and maintains a transportation network consisting of 725 kilometres of roads and 139 bridges and culvert structures.

Adopt-A-Road

The Adopt-A-Road Program is an opportunity for businesses, groups, and other organizations to contribute to their community, clean up the environment and help beautify our County roads system. If you are interested in participating in this worthwhile program, click here for more information.

Waste reduction is the responsibility of the Environmental Services Division of the Public Works Department. Waste reduction programs include Blue Box Recycling, Household Hazardous Waste, Composting, and Electronic Recycling.
