Havelock Environment Day Successfull
July 25, 2012
The 6th Line Belmont Transfer Station was busy on July 21 as residents took to opportunity to drop off electronics, household hazardous waste, hard plastics and styrofoam for recycling. In total approximately 2 tonnes of house hold hazardous waste, 2 tonnes of electronics, 1 tonne of hard plastics and 5 extra-large bags of styrofoam were diverted from the landfill. Additionally residents were able to take a free bucket of compost as a thank-you for using the depot drop-off organics program available for all County residents at the 6th line Transfer Station. Residents were also able to purchase products such as composters, digesters, rain barrels and blue boxes to help increase their waste reduction at home. The household hazardous waste depot and the electronics recycling bin will be available to drop off materials for free every Friday and Saturday until Labour Day. There is one more similar event happening this weekend, July 28 at the Galway Community Centre.
