The Chief Administrative Officer (CAO is the senior administrator for the County of Peterborough, charged with:

  • General control and management of the affairs of the municipality
  • Leadership of the Senior Management Team
  • Directing the human, financial and physical resources of the municipality
  • Ensuring that Council’s directives are carried out.

Representing the municipality, as a key contributor for matters involving the Province, the Eastern Ontario Wardens' Caucus (EOWC) and other municipalities, is an important function of this office.

    Customer Service Standard

    The Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA), 2005 provides for the establishment of accessibility standards.

    Municipalities must:

    • establish policies, procedures and practices governing the provision of its goods or services to persons with disabilities.
    • use all reasonable efforts to ensure that its policies, procedures and practices provide accessible customer service to people with various kinds of disabilities.
    • respect the core principles of independence, dignity, integration and equal opportunity.

    Accessibility Plans

    • The Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2001 and Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) 2005 require that Council annually update its Accessibility Plan.
    • The Accessibility Advisory Committee reports annually to Council on the preparation, implementation and effectiveness of the Accessibility Plan.
    • The Committee develops a list of objectives for the coming year to ensure that the Plan continues to be implemented and effective.
